A system to conduct and manage internal audits for the company – built within Microsoft Access using VBA and SQL (JetSQL), built conformant to ISO 9001.

Details:
This Access based system was constructed to record all audits performed internally. It consists of multiple pages for the management of audits including a main overview, a list view for findings, corrective action reports, observations, and agendas.
This is a relatively complex system of tables all connected to a main audits table. This system allowed the recording of audits, associated standards clauses, relevant individuals, and notes for everything that could be entered. The system allowed for quick and easy location and navigation of audits and all their parts. When completed, alternate forms allowed each audit section to be exported in a printer-friendly format.
Additionally, this system provided needed analytics for audits, including such items as total number of findings and corrective actions for an audit. It also allowed audits to be filtered to display which audits still had open corrective actions or observations that still needed to be addressed. Analytics were also provided to give historical accountings of audits performed.
Problem Solved:
This was built as a direct request to rebuild the way audits were conducted internally. The previous method for recording and performing internal audits was found to be insufficient for the company’s needs.
Results:
Audits were able to be conducted, managed and shared with significantly improved efficiency. A single source of truth existed now for internal audits and all parts were connected in a way that was intuitive for the front end user. Additionally, this made presentation of our audits to third party auditors simple, fast and to the point, directly resulting in clear conformity to several ISO clauses.
