Did this one in Illustrator for my friend and his wife as a gift for them. It seems like they absolutely loved it. I was, initially going to do some sort of funky effect like I did with my sister's picture (also in this portfolio), but once I had them done, and before I started on any background/foreground, I quickly realized that doing anything too fancy would ruin the picture. To me, it was very obvious that simplicity was king here, so I went with a very simple, deliberately not complicated or too busy, flowery foreground in the corners. I reeeeeally wanted to do something complex and fancy, especially with some things I've been studying lately, but complexity doesn't make design good. Many many times, good design is knowing when to stop and knowing not to add more. Simple is better and the simplicity really brings out the beauty in this picture.
Looking back on things, this would have been an awesome wedding invitation. Like… really good. And cheaper and easier and everything to deal with than what I did design for them. Ah well.
