Business Card – Tiger Design

When thinking of marketing myself as a designer and coming up with various ideas on what to market myself as, a possible DBA name, business card, et cetera, I came up with the name Tiger Design. I have since decided against the name. Initially, I picked it because it spoke to me about design. The tiger, in the Chinese Zodiac is courageous, bold, a leader, powerful, passionate… adjectives that would be fantastic to describe the design of an individual. Plus, it is my Chinese Zodiac sign, so it would be personal to me too. And Tigers are cool. Is zodiac supposed to be capitalized when following Chinese? Hm… probably not. Oh well.

This is a mockup of my potential business card for the name Tiger Design. A black business card/credit card sleeve (they’re the same thing) with a very simple two color card inside. The sleeve has a hypothetical die-cut with the first word of the name. The sleeve was actually custom made by hand by me. I had no black paper at the time and there is no way I was going to pay for a few hundred dollar custom die for something I was designing just to prove the concept would work. Maybe someday, when I’m rich, I’ll do that sort of thing. The word tiger was hand cut on paper with lots of black ink. Not easy to make that many small and precise cuts, but I did it. Overall, I really love my design for this business card and will be using it for my own business card when I figure out what to call myself. Most likely, I am going to just stick with my last name. Baird Design.
